Health and Fitness Centre
Leatherhead, Surrey
Built within the urban fabric of Leatherhead Town Centre, the 30,000 sq ft leisure centre occupies a site that was formerly the car park to the Thorndike Theatre - a Grade II Listed building. The main elevation completes The Crescent street scene by infilling the former car park with a balanced contemporary insertion.
The material palette is combined from red brick, sand cement render, profiled metal panels and curtain wall glazing - chosen deliberately to relate to the surrounding vernacular whilst being applied in a contemporary manner.
The building design is formed over three-storeys, constructed with a basement car park and includes a first-floor swimming pool.
