Just for Pets was acquired out of administration by Pedigree Wholesale Ltd, a Nottingham based established distributor of nearly 50 years in the pet industry.

The previously successful retail business had encountered trading difficulties after opening a number of unprofitable stores. 16 of the original 25 stores were chosen for acquisition and Carter Jonas advised on formalising new or re-gearing existing leases.

The stores were rebranded, refurbished and the business became profitable again, leading to a decision to expand the chain. Being an ‘essential retailer’ the business was able to trade throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carter Jonas is managing the acquisition programme and searching for new sites, including advising on deals to secure new outlets. The first new store opened at East Bridgford, followed by Stafford. A further store is now committed in Evesham and further stores are planned. Our professionals are currently seeking 3,500- 6,000 sq ft with parking in busy roadside or retail park locations. The search area is from Stafford to Bristol and east to Reading.
