Carter Jonas celebrates 100 years in Oxford

Published on: 29 September 2024

Carter Jonas marked 100 years of the firm’s presence in Oxford this month, hosting a special evening at the Ashmolean Museum to celebrate this significant milestone.

The event, on Thursday 19 September, brought together over 150 clients, colleagues, and partners to commemorate the firm's long-standing history in Oxford. The Ashmolean Museum, as a renowned cultural institution with world-famous collections, provided a vibrant backdrop for this commemorative occasion. Guests on the night enjoyed an evening of entertainment and networking, as well as an opportunity to view the museum’s major exhibition currently on show, Money Talks.

Carter Jonas first launched in Oxford in 1924, after acquiring Castle Field & Castle. This opening marked the firm’s third office, following Cambridge in 1855 and London in 1909. Carter Jonas Oxford takes pride in its century-long contribution to the city’s unique landscape and vibrant community. With a team of over 100 people, the office supports both major developments and local initiatives.

James Bainbridge, Chairman of Carter Jonas, said: "We were excited to host our guests at the Ashmolean Museum, marking our 100 years in Oxford. It was a great opportunity to express our gratitude for their continuous support and friendship. Although our business has evolved significantly since its establishment in 1924, our teams are still inspired by this wonderful city. Oxford, known for its rich history and architectural heritage, continues to strive for excellence as a centre of innovation. Those of us working to support its development value these aspects. We are passionate about both the elements that have shaped its reputation and those that will maintain its success as a globally significant city in the future.

“Over the last 100 years, Carter Jonas itself has expanded to become a truly national, multidisciplinary property consultancy. We now have a network of 34 offices and over 1000 people working across all sectors of the market, and Oxford remains a central hub for our operations. We take pride in maintaining a partnership and culture that prioritises our clients and serves their best interests. With their support and that of our people, we are committed to continued growth and look forward to the future in Oxford, supporting investment in all forms across the region.
