Swansea

Swansea city centre has historically suffered from detrimental post-war development and competition from out-of-town office and retail developments.

As the Council’s strategic property advisor, Carter Jonas have advised on the creation of the city’s regeneration strategy, and we are now assisting the Council with the implementation of this strategy.

A core element of the city’s regeneration agenda is the delivery of Copr Bay - the development comprises a new 3,500-capacity arena, let to ATG, and a new multi-storey car park. It also includes six new F&B units, most of which are now let to good quality independent operators, and new homes. A landmark bridge and a 1.1-acre coastal park provide an important link between the city centre, the development and the seafront and the completion of the development marks a major step towards the city’s transformation into a vibrant living, working and leisure destination.

The Council took the role of developer and funder, and Carter Jonas have supported the Council throughout the development process from the appointment of a professional team, securing funding for the development, lettings advice (including on the pre-let to the arena operator) and monitoring through the construction phase.

The project remained on track through the Covid 19 pandemic and we are proud to have been involved in a key part of the city’s evolution.
